Re: New Kanstul 5/4 Grand CC and BBb tubas
This just in from Kanstul,
1st-2nd-3rd valves are .750
4th is .783
5th controlled resistance rotor .810
Grand CC is Model 5490
Grand BBb is Model 5433
And the Bell is 19"
For those who tried the older prototype with the bell collar, I suggest a try of the newer prototype. When Zig makes changes you can notice them by just playing the instrument.
Oh and yes, for those of you who would like to see/hear the video, just look up my Facebook page Howard Miyata and enjoy!
Please bear in mind that this is still a work in progress so tuba specs are subject to change, but this the latest so far!

Great question! I'm on it - for what it's worth, I had to really spread the legs, and I am 5 ft eight". I'll try to get that info for you!

This just in, the Grand 5/4 tubas fit exactly into the SKB 5/4 case. Still getting those.hieght, width and front to back thickness from Charles, busy day today, new spring loaded paddles for the F tuba(main tuning slide) paddle mounts on top between first and third! More surprises to come that I can" t talk about yet!

Still waiting on those size demensions, the bell is about a half foot to a foot taller than the 4/4 just by best guess. Will relay more info as it becomes available, more Kanstul photos on my Facebook page, just search Howard Miyata.

Here are the pics you've been waiting for:

And here are some pics of the tuning trigger now included with the Kanstul F tuba. This is the F below. I don't have any pics of a CC with a trigger...yet. Personally, I didn't think the Grand CC needed a trigger, but now that it's available, vanity may say otherwise.

Oh yeah, a cimbasso is coming.
Best,
Ferguson

Gorgeous!
I retract my statement at the beginning of the thread. This is an 11/8 horn.
I sure hope there's an example for me to play at TMEA. I'd really like to give that beast a honk or two.

This is the one off, and the one with the two piece bell. Not the production one.

Re: New Kanstul 5/4 Grand CC and BBb tubas
How different from the current model Kanstul 5/4 BBb will the new 5/4 BBb be?
What are the differences, if any?
Will they offer it in both 5 valve and 4 valve versions?
Thanks,
Frank Ortega

Any chance this tuning widget will be made available for purchase for those of us that might want to install it on other horns?Ferguson wrote:

Is it 'double sprung' so that you can adjust both sharp and flat notes?
