The Bhut Jolokia, as it is commonly known—also known variously by other names in its native region, sometimes Naga Jolokia—is a chili pepper previously recognized by Guinness World Records as the hottest pepper in the world. The pepper is typically called the ghost chili or ghost pepper by U.S. media.

I hope you, at least, made some money off of that.
I really enjoy spicy foods. My philosophy is that if it doesn't make you sweat, it isn't spicy enough. I just had many glasses of water, half a glass of milk, two rolls, and some other food immediately afterwards.
Still was able to play a gig at the governor's mansion that night :tuba:

With that last statement, you are making me think that we may need to start a "TMI" thread.

The Old Dam Community Band did a joint concert last night with Castle South Middle School in Newburgh, Indiana. The dragon is a mural on the wall of their gymnasium.

And here the update from my son's junior high band. Being the only tuba player, he has his own music stand, because nobody shares his sheet music. Similarly, the lone bari sax player who sits next to him also has his own music stand. But the three baritones have to share two music stands, to save space. This sounds like it makes sense, right?

Well, one of the baritone players took offense. He has an attitude, and seems to think that having your own music stand is an important status symbol. So he simply walked over to my son, grabbed the stand, dumped the tuba parts on the floor, and took the stand away.

The good news: Seems the band will soon have one fewer baritone player. The bad news: the band will have one fewer baritone player.

Heresy! The faithful will burn you at the stake. I instead waste my time using an Android Honeycomb ASUS Transformer with an attached real keyboard that allows me to touch type. If no hotspot is available I activate and use my TruConnect MiFi 2200 Mobile Hotspot (You could also do this with a WiFi only iPad, I'll admit. But then you're stuck with iOS.)

According to my accountant, I'm a "Professional Musician" in the eyes of Uncle Sam (as of 2011).

On an extremely related note...I've lost all faith in the performing arts, in just a few hours. Faith in Uncle Sam was lost many moons ago.

I think I'll celebrate (or mourn, depending upon interpretation) by drinking a Pabst Blue Ribbon and eating Spaghettios.

Cold is fine. I remember the 'good old days' when I was stationed in the Highlands of Scotland back in the 60's. The items in the 'mid-rats' box that usually got consumed first were Spaghettios and Chef Boy R Dee cheese spaghetti.... always cold. When you're 19 years old and had to go to work at 10pm... you could ALWAYS count on being hungry by 2am!

That violin was already found by a cleaning crew and returned to the girl earlier today. You would think Yahoo would pull the earlier story instead of running both that one and the story of the recovery just a few hours apart.

Not that uncommon. Here is a 10-year old story of the same happening to a seasoned professional, with a very valuable violin:
http://www.cozio.com/Instrument.aspx?id=4280
This lady is an old friend, sister of one of my piano & violin duo partners.

I'm a piano player. I have always envied most other instrumentalists, because they will know the instrument. About a generation ago, when I still used to go on stages and play, the thing that frightened me most wasn't the audience, or the critics, or the jury (if this was a competition or audition), but the fact that sitting on the stage is an unknown monster with 88 black and white teeth, which I had either never seen before, or met for a half hour warm-up hours before the performance. Everybody else went up on the stage accompanied by their very best friend; the partner that they can trust, and that they know intimately, because they have spent zillions of hours stroking it, or blowing into it. My violin-playing friends at least knew that the hardware and wetware would be capable of making beautiful music, whereas I had to rely on luck, and if luck failed, on my (marginal) experience with all manners of odd pianos. Often, too much of my brain was used on trying to get a decent sound out of piano, and figuring out its shortcomings.

Obviously, there were occasional great surprises. Like a chamber music evening in a small rural town, in a converted barn (with the big sister of the lady who lost her violin above). The audience looked like farmers, tractor dealers, little old church-going ladies, and the local corrupt politicians (elected from among the above-mentioned tractor dealers and local firefighters). But on the stage was a nearly new, immaculately well voiced 7-foot Boesendorfer. JACKPOT! My solo was the Busoni transcription of Bach's chaconne (where the extra bass keys came in handy), and the even and light touch really helped with the arpeggios in Ravel's Tzigane. I think we ended the evening with a big sonata (either a Brahms violin+piano sonata, or Beethoven's Kreutzer), and it was an absolute delight to make music there.

Anycase, getting back to transporting instruments: The only thing that being a piano player had going for it was: I didn't have to worry about transporting the instrument, making sure I know where it is, dealing with temperature changes and dry air in airplanes, or it getting rattled to death in the bottom of the bus.

Yeah... I guess I was a little too quick to criticize... I lost a whole automobile near (or in) the North Sea in Scotland back in the 60's. Never did find it! There may be a '56 Buick somewhere in the tidal basin at Montrose. :)
