Raincatcher for Sale

Post by TubadudeCA »

Hey all,

As much as I would like to horde this for myself, there's no way I could afford it  So I figured someone on here might want to give this beautiful horn a nice home!

It's an Eb Conn Raincatcher! *cue horn envy*

Neat horn. You don't see rain catchers very often. You see Eb's even less than BBb.

They are fun horns, if only to watch the reactions from most people when they see you playing them. I sold my 4 valve King Eb raincatcher earlier this year since it was just sitting around not getting used, but it was a fun horn. Here's a photo:

Actually, you sold it to me earlier last year - August 2010. It's sitting around here too, collecting dust. I put over $200 into it (cleaning/polishing, valve alignment, couple braces/flanges soldered, etc) after I bought it from you. Very neat historical horn with a warm sweet sound. Surprisingly lightweight for what it is. But after playing it a while "getting used to it", I found the intonation really wacked out - moreso than any other old horn I have played  Response is kinda stuffy too, and I am used to old Eb tubas.
Fun historical horn for Tuba Christmas, conversation piece or a museum.
I may try and sell it in 2012 if in the mood.
