Any word out on Canadian Brass tuba Conn/King?
So far CB is using Bach Artisian trumpets, has anyone heard what Dallenbach is playing?

Hi-
I believe there is a strike with a picket line currently at the Conn-Eastlake plant where they were developing a tuba for Chuck....

I suspect that it will be a variation on the 56J...

Maybe... Maybe not... Until the strike gets settled, we aren't going to be working on anything, as we just don't have the resources. If/when anything happens, I will let you know.

Re: Any word out on Canadian Brass tuba Conn/King?
If history is any indicator in the kind of horns Charles D. gets, lets have a look:
CB-50
bore: .689"
bell: 19 1/4"
Yamaha 621 CC
bore: .689"
bell: 14 3/8" (but this is a 3/4 horn...)
56J
Bore: (1-3) .687" (4) .732" (5) .750"
Bell: 20"
Now, the 56J seems very similar to the CB-50 in some ways. I think that if he liked the CB-50, he will have them make something similar to, or flatout restart production of the 56J. That's just my opinion, and I would be happy if they did start re-making them. This is just wishful thinking on my part.

Just saw Chuck Dallenbach last weekend at the NAMM show, he was playing his trusty Conn 2J the instrument that was used when CB was founded. Actually not the same identical instrument but used replacement of the same model -- horns do wear out. This will tide him over until Conn makes him another tuba.

When I talked to Chuck in December he said it was a prototype, part Conn, part King, part Yamaha and with the carbon fiber bell.
No doubt it will be spec'd to his liking, if he endorses the horn they'll sell plenty of 'em.
