Honestly, I hadn't really ever taken the time to appreciate RVW's music as a whole, past his Tuba Concerto, and his symphonies. This past semester I had a newfound appreciation for him after playing one of his organ pieces transcribed for band, Rhosymedre. It's a beautiful hymn that he was able to put on paper, and I wanted to share the recording with you guys. This is actually the first time I've ever been truly proud of myself too! We tried to keep to down to a small wind ensemble to keep the delicacy of the piece, and I was the only tuba player!

Re: Vaughan Williams
I think the tuba concerto sits a little oddly in his body of work. It's got a different feel from what I think of as the "normal" or "usual" RVW piece.

Agreed. Either way though, I enjoy his music a lot more than I did before hand.talleyrand wrote:I think the tuba concerto sits a little oddly in his body of work. It's got a different feel from what I think of as the "normal" or "usual" RVW piece.
