That would have been PERFECT!

Post by Bob Kolada »

I was putzing around on the internet and came across this bit by Roger Bobo, regarding tuba music and tuba players-
Personally, I was saddened by the sound track for Jurassic Park; what a natural for the tuba, but sadly, that’s not the way John Williams saw it. I like to imagine what he might have written for a tyrannosaurs rex motif, even more, I like to imagine playing it.
+100!

What music have you heard or played and felt that it was missing what could have been the perfect touch if only played by tuba?

Ah, but it could have been a SONG, not necessarily animal snorts (though I still love the velocipartors growls in the cafeteria!).

I agree with Bob if what he had in mind was something like the menacing bass/contrabone sound in Lord of the Rings and that sort of thing. But I'd disagree on the grounds that contrabones are better at scaring people than tubas.

Except for Jaws.
