Summer Programs

Post by chevy68chv »

I'm a college student in CA and I am looking to find decent summer brass programs. I'm willing to go out of state if I have to. Any suggestions?

This might also be interesting, since you are on the west coast:

Anybody remember a brass clinic type deal in which you played in a small group (quintet, etc) with hired pro musicians, and the cost depended on how many you had to hire? I remember seeing an ad prior to last summer for this one, but have been unable to find it since.

MA, who would dig playing the horn part on the Ewald quintet with something other than the CD.

I went to a brass clinic in Menlo Park last year that was like that. It had a lot of hired pros from the San Francisco symphony and other orchestras from the area. The website is http://brass.menloschool.org and the tuba teacher is Peter Wahrhaftig.

Thanks. I'll definately look into those. Its just a challenge trying to find something geared towards college students. I don't really geyt much out of playing with a bunch of 15 year olds.

Summer programs

Atlantic Brass Quintet has a great quintet seminar every summer. Last year Triton Brass was there helping out. Everyone should keep their eye (or ear) on that group.

Their site isn't updated for this coming summer but you can contact John Manning at the University of Iowa for more details.

Later,
Kevin
