This isn't the one you had a few years ago, is it? I remember a leaner horn.

Wow, pretty soon you can stop wearing your tuba in the symphony concerts.
Happiness is a warm tuba.

That is a fascinating project. I have always liked Buescher horns.

Interesting ceiling tiles, Bloke--they kinda look walked on. And how did you mount it by the bell up there?

Since I'm too lazy to find your original helicon threads, can you reiterate (a few words is fine) what makes Buescher tubas particularly suitable for these projects and/or your playing preferences? Just curious!

With a tuba glue! Sorry, couldn't resist. Sounds like a great project bloke!gwwilk wrote:And how did you mount it by the bell up there?

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving's probably not for you.

Re: show-and-tell: another future bloke-tuba
There's a tuba similar to the Del Negro wrap Holton here in NE Ohio; It was supposedly owned by Chester Schmitz's predecessor. Anyway, it had piston valves and a main tuning slide similar to a Miraphone - sideways. It had been rebuilt and the valves were still good.
It might have been the best CC I've ever played. I can't find anyone who remembers who that dude was! I'd shoot my dog for that thing.
I can't wait to see your finished product, Bloke; these beasts sound wonderful.

It's incredible if they haven't at least slowed down on sending you their instruments to repair. After all the rants you have written here about how people don't take care of their instruments any more, if they're still getting busted up it would have to make you wonder if anyone's listening.bloke wrote:Did people stop sending me their instruments to repair?
When they do, I might start pulling down some of these projects.

Below is a link to a photo of John Helleberg and his Buescher CC tuba in 1922. Perhaps Buescher designed these for an easy converstion to CC.

That it does. With yet another idea about how to handle the third valve tubing than I, at least, have seen before. I wish the definition gave us a better look at the bracing.J.c. Sherman wrote:That sure looks like a Conn...
