I have received a tuba shipped via Greyhound in the past, and liked the service and price. I am now trying to ship a tuba, and would like to use Greyhound, but have found they only insure the 1st $1,000. Is that what you found, or am I not understanding their policy correctly.

hmmmm, guess I was just naive or perhaps lucky. I have never done the insurance bit with Greyhound. But I do over engineer. All my shipments have been done in very heavy cardboard (usually a box that was used to ship upholstered furniture of dishes). Liberal use of packing peanuts. If there was a gig bag it stayed in there as well. If not, then a very large kids "bouncy ball" in the bell.
I've shipped and received around 9 times since 2004. Never an issue.

Opinionated? Really?bloke wrote:A local friend (at my advice) bought a very similar one (in similar condition) off of the Oberloh website...' an extraordinarily fine instrument. It's funny how much more some people pay for crappy F tubas.
bloke "opinionated"
Anyway, Ralph Hepola really went out of his way to assist in the shipping of the tuba.
And the terminal manager in St Paul allowed this into the system even though it was "too heavy" inside the custom box.

Got the call, tuba arrived today. Brasslad is in heaven. His professor told him if he had the cash he'd have out bid me.
No dings, scratches, or wrinkles in the tuba from the trip.
