Re: I JUST FILED MY TAX RETURN, AND I AM.....confused...because I got more back in taxes than I paid in (thanks to EIC). I guess being a broke graduate student helps at tax time...
Re: I JUST FILED MY TAX RETURN, AND I AM.....
no, thats how they think they can buy your vote. Prove them wrong! Don't fret though, next year you'll get to pay your "fair share" to that pandering demagogue group in D.C....already built into "O-care"! Capital gains, death, and AMT also have >50% increases! Nice! f.w.i.w., here's next year's adjustments to personal income taxes: ![]() Notice the lowest bracket has a 50% increase? Change you can believe in, eh?
Re: I JUST FILED MY TAX RETURN, AND I AM.....This thread was approaching a record-breaking level of collective TubeNet stupidity as it stood, but I think this post pushes it over the edge.
Backslaps all around, chums. No one is as dumb as we are dumb!
Re: I JUST FILED MY TAX RETURN, AND I AM.....
How about making the current top rate of 35% also go up 50% ------oh no, the Right's RICH friends wouldn't want that.... Greed, Greed, Greed...... Mark
Re: I JUST FILED MY TAX RETURN, AND I AM........ thinking this thread has gotten a bit political?
Re: I JUST FILED MY TAX RETURN, AND I AM.....Not sure it's political at the root. Just human nature. Those who pay more than they benefit don't like it. Those who benefit more than they pay do. Some things never change.

Re: I JUST FILED MY TAX RETURN, AND I AM.....
precisely. Greedy and/or jealous people have discovered that they can elect unscrupulous and nefarious people who (using the threat of standing armies and prisons) will take by coercion (steal) other people's resources and "redistribute" a little bit of those resources (albeit while skimming most of it off the top first) to them. Those who speak out and call this what it is (stealing) are (via psychological projection) labeled "greedy". Soon (if this program is to continue to "progress"), those incorrigibles who speak out against this wrong (just as with the mass exterminations in other countries during the 20th Century where these sorts of programs have been put in place) will be rounded up and dealt with. I don't view this movement as "political", btw. This movement transcends any "parties", and is much more of (far beyond being a cult) a "religion". This is my question related to "tuba": Once the productive and successful are either impoverished or exterminated, where do classical musicians think the money is going to come from to fund (whether $5000/yr or $75,000/yr) orchestra musicians salaries? Do orchestra musicians think that plumbers, grocery store clerks, firemen, or (ha!) other musicians are who fund the bulk of these endeavors? Are they naive enough to believe that "the state" will step up, sponsor their orchestras, and be "fair" with them? What happens to the value of money and currency when a government (purposely setting out to "change" things) borrows and prints nearly unlimited amounts of these...?? ...and then what happens to the economy...?? ...and then what happens to those with non-essential skills (such as those in the entertainment/music industry)...?? ![]() Last edited by bloke on Wed Apr 18, 2012 10:57 am, edited 1 time in total.

Re: I JUST FILED MY TAX RETURN, AND I AM.....
I linked to and addressed that previously. The United States now (as of this month) has the highest corporate tax in the world. As was explained in a previous link, Warren Buffett (unlike the silly propaganda which which he willingly goes along) paid roughly 50% (not 15%) in income tax. It was first taxed at the corporate rate of 35%, and when he took it as personal income (capital gains) he had to pay yet another 15%. It doesn't require much thinking to realize why some greedy multi-millionaires (those who already have theirs) want the tax rates increased. Here is the reason: Once a person is up in the $20-million (or name your own threshold) range in assets, it is no longer about "money"; It becomes all about power and influence. Think about it for just a second: The MOST wealthy men in America (Gates, etc.) tend to be statists (with the rules of statism applying to "the masses"). Those in this range do NOT wish for there to be MORE members joining this club (for obvious reasons)... so the MORE these multi-millionaires are successful in convincing politicians to INCREASE taxes on those who are TRYING to get up into that club (ie. those who make $150,000...$200,000...$750,000...$1M...$2M a year, etc.) the more DIFFICULT it becomes for people in the "almost rich" range to become members of the elite club (again, enough money to exercise power and influence). Warren Buffett has been VERY clever in his position and on his delivery of propaganda. Those who buy the lie of redistribution actually LIKE him (for supposedly going to bat for them and for feeding their obtuse class envy), yet (surely) it is no secret that he views those (as do all who are at the top of the food chain of "progress") who now "like" him as nothing more than a vast herd of cattle.
Re: I JUST FILED MY TAX RETURN, AND I AM.....Yes, but Buffett is old and the great equalizer will soon have his way, scythe in hand.
