Re: Update Update1/ How many of those people's 100th birthdays were in 1970 (the first "Earth Day") ?
2/ How many on the list are even 1% as well-known as Vladimir Lenin ? 3/ An elected official is primarily credited with the creation of "Earth Day". ...................Who was this official, and what were his proclivities? 4/ What is the Institute for Policy Studies? ...................Was this elected official considered to be a "friend" or a "foe" of the ISP ? bloke "Come on... Re: Update Update
Even if this were true, who cares? Like you said in a now-locked thread, clean air and water are things that everyone wants. Let's celebrate and pursue them, and to hell with any birthday parties. If Earth Day were today (the 23rd) instead of yesterday (the 22nd), would you still be bitching about it? You've already said you espouse the environmental stewardship aspect of Earth Day (remember that post? where you said everyone wants clean air and water?), so why wouldn't you be willing to celebrate and pursue those things every day of the year, regardless of whichever long-dead SOBs happened to be born?
Re: Update UpdateThe "environmentalist movement" is no more about "clean air and clean water" than "titty bars" are about "clean beer".

Re: Update Update
So? According to you, Earth Day has nothing to do with the environment and everything to do with an inside joke about a long-dead Soviet. Are you saying you believe Earth Day is pointless and/or irrelevant since we should spend every day looking after clean air and water and not just one day a year? You know, clean air and water, those things everyone wants (this might be the first time I've known you to lump yourself in with "everyone", Mr. Bloke...)?
Re: Update UpdateSTOP!
It's clear your opinions differ, but don't get this epuc thread locked!

Re: Update Update
1/ Way sooner than you think, metabolism and gravity are going to catch up with you. 2/ Probably around 7:30 in the morning, you'll be creating more "earth" for the next "Earth Day". bloke "The point is that it is a religious holiday (for those who do not realize they are religious, but are), and nothing more."
Re: Update Update
The environmentalist movement is not one of wise conservation, but more of a militant bunch of know-it-alls who seek to impose their political will on others. Regarding clean air, clean water, boobs, and clean beer, I have no issues with any of them, except that the boobs also be clean. I don't even mind a dirty girl, but she could at least bathe. ![]() Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
