On Ebay you can usually find an old trashed out tuba or two that you can get fairly cheap.

I don't get your point DP- what does the link you have posted have any think to do with me looking for scrap tuba parts? And fairweather, I have indeed brought a couple of beaters off ebay to date, however I've found that a lot of the time even something that looks like junk fetches a reasonal sum

Exactly. As a guy who specializes in fixing low-brass... I am of the opinion that 'scrap tuba parts' would have to be far beyond recognition to be labeled as such.Jstartuba wrote:...I have indeed brought a couple of beaters off ebay to date, however I've found that a lot of the time even something that looks like junk fetches a reasonal sum
Parts are parts. .... and parts are expensive. Try buying a 1st branch for a Conn 2XJ!

I see. maybe I'll have to adjust my expectations in terms of the price I pay for some parts

Or diversify the places you look for them. Flea Markets, Goodwill, Government auctions, Local classifieds, Looking on Ebay for misprints and typos...Jstartuba wrote:I see. maybe I'll have to adjust my expectations in terms of the price I pay for some parts
