Hint: We are all learning. That's the point. Even those august personages who lurk here learn, even if what they learn is what their future students will be thinking.

The foolish part is when the young'uns throw temper tantrums because the answers to their questions don't go their way, or when they get the big head and start talking up their own abilities or talking trash about their betters. But I suppose everyone has to learn that lesson at some point, and some of us more than once.

Who is really a celebrity anyway? I suspect most famous tubists do not care if they are famous and are probably thankful that they are only famous to us, the select tuba geeks. A man is only that, no matter what kind of sound he blows.

True. I would guess that, with the exception of a few divas, most of the top players in the tuba world are modest folk. The ones I've had the pleasure of working with don't really care to be put on a pedestal and worshipped. That could be why they keep a low profile on this BBS.

I can agree with your last statement. The remainder of your post needs some gramatical and spelling help for it to make any sense at all.

By the way. Don't get Mary and myself wrong. Speaking for myself, I believe you are attempting to communicate with a group of people who don't understand your language very well. In fact, we sometimes find it to be gibberish. Then we find it somewhat humorous that you attempt to speak authoritatively on subjects with which you have limited knowledge. If you will notice the nature of my posts, you will note that I am quite careful in my choice of words and on the subjects I will challenge others on. The reason for this is that I don't always know more than everyone else on TubeNet.

In defense of a few posters on this board, spelling is not taught in many public schools anymore. Where I am teaching, spelling is not part of any curriculum k-12. This is not a good thing but what can you do.

A. Be a good tuba/bass trombone player
B. Anarchist
C. Smoke pot
D. Drink under age
E. Have sex with random girls (ignoring the ones with straight forward thought processes)

G. Be a good speller
H. Be a celebrity (I think you are gaining a certain type/amount of celebrity on this BBS)

OR

If you didn't have your parents would be able to do all of the above?

I believe this is something you should be thankful for. It sounds like you have parents who are performing the role of parents. Far too many parents just want to be friends with their kids. My guess is that you have plenty of friends. You need your parents to be parents.

By the way, I'm not(and others, too) trying to be harsh on you. It sounds as if you are trying to learn. This, too, is a very good thing. Keep it up. My dad taught me that we are to continue to learn for our entire lives. In fact, he often said, "The day is stop learning is the day I should die."

There's room on this forum for both you and for some of us old guys. We all have many things left to learn.
