So I have two questions for the more expert here:

Can anyone tell me how this tuning mechanism works?

Are these horns that out of tune that they need a ton of adjustment?

They got some pretty nice pix of leadpipe "red rot" there up on ol' Ebay... :?

On this tuba? In the front close-up, I see some pink dots. I would have said trivial surface corrosion, though.

Note it's only on the leadpipe (the first place it'd show up).
