Hello TubeNet,
I am posting my Meinl Weston 2000 for sale. Before I say anything about the horn specifically, I want to say that I LOVE this instrument, and really wish I didn't have to sell it. My reasons are purely financial.
That being said, I have to sell it.
It was built in 2000 (a 2000 in 2000, neat eh?), and I've owned it since 2007. This is the most versatile instrument I've ever played. I have used it in everything from the largest-in-size of symphonic orchestras, wind symphonies, wind ensembles, chamber music groups of all sizes and configurations, brass quintets, solos, polka bands, dixieland bands, even rock and roll bands. Some previous owners of this model (not my particular horn, just owners of 2000s in general) complain about it's size, saying it's not big enough for the big symphonies. And while I won't claim it's sound to be as broad as a Yorkbrunner or PT-7 - if you sit back, relax and let the horn do it's job (don't TRY to play it loud), you'll never have an issue with volume. Just last week I played Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony in a full-size orchestra and there were no issues with volume.
I know everything about this horn's intonation with my face. The only weird one for me is my low E (4 ledger lines under the staff), I have to pull the 4th slide out about two inches using the 2, 4, 5 valve combination, or push the 4th tuning slide in all the way for the 2, 3, 4 combination. Other then that, there are minor adjustments I make with the first valve tuning slide for various notes, nothing crazy. Oh yeah, the tuning slides are very accessible with this horn and everything on this horn is fully functioning (no stuck slides).
I use a PT-88 on this horn, and have used that mouthpiece for about 4 years. It sounds great to me and all of my teachers seem to like it as well (you can see my bio on my homepage for those teacher's names).
These horns sell for over $21,000 new; this one in my mind is an exceptional example of this instrument. I played on as many 2000s as I could get my hands on when I was shopping in '07, this one was "the one". It has a couple small spots where the silver is gone, not sure how that happens, they were there when I bought the horn and haven't gotten any larger. There are a few minor dings on the side, absolutely nothing that affects its sound. (I can get those removed for whoever purchases the horn, unless said person would rather take it to "their guy")

If you want to hear some recordings with me using this instrument, just ask.
I'm asking $10,500 - this includes a black cronkhite gig bag in really great shape. I will absolutely accept offers. The horn is currently located in Bloomington, Indiana - if you'd like to come and try it out, all are welcome. I am willing to drive a bit of a distance for very serious buyers...gas ain't cheap!
Thanks,
