Hooks on CC tuba - yes, or no?

Seems to have been the rule for the CC tubas I've owned. Rotary have hooks, piston don't.

B&S Rotary valve tubas do not have hooks - it seems to me more of a Miraphone idea (although interesting not on the Norwegian Star)

Most B&S stencils though do have hooks.

Are those tanks BBb or CC? Do they have hooks on them?

I wonder when B & S/VMI stopped that practice. All of the 'stencils' of a few decades ago had elongated loops like the Miraphones.

The VMI BBb sitting in my studio has them. I think it's 5-6 years old.

A BBb would as those are made for the German band market (the new GR51 do too) - German bands march a lot. But of course the CC are not much used in Germany - they are mainly for the US market where B&S obviously thought like me that hooks would not be wanted

IMO, Even if you don't NEED hooks, it's nice to have that option should any need for them come up. Why not? The're not hurtin' anything. I think is better to at least have the option rather than being without it.

Also, My Weril CC (4 Pistons) has small, circular hooks. However It's a 3/4 horn, so I have no trouble just holding it up on my own when standing. I have a strap, but don't intend to use it. Still, I'm glad I have the option just in case some unforeseen circumstances cause me to need it.

+1... add my 2 cents. Those European-style elongated strap loops have a low profile that shouldn't be annoying to anyone. The lower one is usually toward the inside of the bottom bow.

I keep a couple of sets of the Miraphone loops around and add them whenever requested. I even put a set of them on the King 1241 that I use for Dixieland stuff.... not because I stand with the horn but to keep it from sliding off my lap.

This little 'noname' Chinese CC came with attachment loops...

The WWI vintage BART has strap rings when I purchased it. The lower ring was on the bottom bow, located about midway between the bottom keel and the bell ferrule. When the horn was tilted in a modern American playing position, the ring did an excellent job of pressing me in the gut. It was promptly torched off.
