Did a few 'double-takes' on that one!

I don't understand why they 'flipped' some of the images and not others...

Took awhile to figure this one out, but, if you look at the photo of the engraving, the top bow is the on left. Wonder why it was made...

Well... it's POSSIBLE that it was made from a top-action horn and a front-action valve section was put on it. That's sort of indicated by the added 'bubble' on the case to clear the valve section. The case looks like it was originally made for a top-action horn. But... that image could have been 'flipped', too.

However.... this is also a chance that SOME of the images are 'flipped' and the bell was taken off the horn at some point and just put back on with the engraving pointing 180 degrees off. It is funny though... that the patent date on the high-low pitch slide is forward-reading.

The idea of putting a front-action valveset on a top-action body is interesting.
