Re: Improvised case

Post-Net handles a telescopic carton suitable for a bag of golf clubs. I think the length might range from 24" to 40"

Here's the start to finish of the case I made for my Alto Horn. If I could do it again, I would make it a little smaller, but it serves my purposes well and didn't fall apart or cause damage to the horn when I dropped it (On accident of course  ).

What size does you case need to be?

I have a regular bass trumpet that I carry in a makita tool bag. I would use it to fly, but I weer touring, I might just fly with the horn in a cardboard box and use the bag to carry it around. Your horn might be small enough that you can bring it on as carry-on.

I second the SKB golf cases. You can jump on them and they don't break. You could customize it, or if you have a gig bag you could just put that inside along with your clothes, foam, teddy bear, whatever, and it should get there ok. Just take the logical packing precautions.

The nice thing about golf cases is that no matter how difficult airlines can be about oversize baggage they always seem to be lenient towards golfers.

Long live the upper classes
