I made the drive down to see Lee Stofer yesterday. It was well worth the time. From his small shop on his farm he does some amazing things. I dropped off my Martin monster Eb for a playing condition restoration and had a few small dents removed from my Kanstul. I spent a few hours just chatting with Lee and watching him work. I learned a lot from this gentleman. He is truly a gem for the tuba community. Now is the hard part for me. Waiting for my Martin to be completed. With a valve job and a few other things it may be done
by Christmas or more likely next spring. If you have a chance, try to visit Lee it's worth your time.

Lee did magic to my MW 2265 valves back in May. I highly recommend a visit.

Lee's place is absolutely beautiful. Cornfields all around, not too far from the Mississippi river, and few lights to obscure the stars at night. It's a wonderful area.

Re: Visit to Lee Stofer
Sounds like I should try to look him up sometime when I go home to visit, even if I don't have any tubas needing any work. I grew up in Fulton, Illinois, across the river. As the crow flies, it's a hop, skip. jump and a good paddle across the river.
