Loving my 2145

Post by MikeMason »

First concert last nt with the new horn.death and transfiguration on program.horn did great.the more I play the more I like it.plenty loud for the group.super low range.i would venture to say that if you're not in a full time orchestra, the 2145 would be plenty of horn for you,in the right hands.i was thinking about getting an old/ugly kaiser Bb for the larger works, but that thought is now gone.the term "pocket rocket" keeps coming to mind...on my next post I'll tell you about my new hunter green/British tan leather cronkhite bag.sweet!

Congrats man! Aren't new toys fun? A buddy of mine in college had a 2145 when I had a 2165. I hate to say it, but I was jealous of the horn. It had all of the nice Meinl Weston sound/color and was a lot more nimble. Since I recently did a MASSIVE downsizing from a 2165 (different than in college) to my piggy, I'm having a blast.

Post pictures of the bag!!!! It sounds awesome. My piggy came with a very clean and awesome black Reunion Blues bag. They are awesome.

Is that a 'standard' 2145 you have, or one of the modified or 'tweaked' ones I read about on this board some times ?

I owned a 2145 back in 2005 with the small valve section. Great tuba, played real big with great projection.....wonderful all around horn!
