'tis amazing what you can do if no one tells you it is difficult.
I still remember playing Elsa's in 7th grade. Bunch of whole notes. How hard can it be? Sharps? Hell, just write 23 above all the notes. Seemed to work.

That tune and Brookes' Chicago Marine Band March have two of the best Euph lines in the trio of any march.

Well, this high school played it in parade competition a couple of years ago. But they did have all those thing that bloke didn't have. They are one of the best on the west coast...

Re: gone forever
Bravo, Cameron!!! I have adhered to this philosophy for my entire 25-year reign of terror as a private instructor. It has resulted in NUMEROUS young students competently playing music that was considered far above their abilities due to their age and level of intellectual development as taught in the undergraduate music education curriculum. A private instructor, unlike the school band director due to their workload, is able to assess each student as an individual as to their maturity and ability and challenge them accordingly.'tis amazing what you can do if no one tells you it is difficult.

I played an Olds Ambassador 3-valve front-bell (scew-on) lacquer euph/baritone from 5th through 11th grades.
I confess, though, that when I played in this recording of "Purple Carnival" in the 12th grade, I had a brand-spankin' new Yamaha yep-321s.

We didn't march to it, though. Didn't memorize it, either. But when we marched, it was with bell fronts, and all our music was memorized. New tunes each game, too.

Didn't you forget something? Who, pray tell, where you playing with? Your posting doesn't say what band and neither does your YouTube recording. Is this a contest, are we supposed to guess who they are?tokuno wrote: ...I played in this recording of "Purple Carnival" in the 12th grade...
