Chuck Daellenbach's tuba!
I'm sure he's used a great many tubas during his time with the Canadian Brass, but shouldn't it be gold plated if it was one of his? Or maybe this was his "beater" tuba.

The trombone instructor at my old college owns his contra. I don't know if Chuck stopped playing it or just bought another.

I just emailed the seller, so we'll see...It didn't sell and has been relisted by the way.the elephant wrote:I worked on one of his Yamaha horns that was very badly mangled at the Jackson airport by one of our local luggage tossers. It was gold plated and the bell-to-receiver brace was custom cut to be in the shape of a maple leaf. Several other braces were this way, as well, IIRC.
If you are really curious, ask the seller to post a photo of this letter of authenticity. That would be interesting...

Re: Chuck Daellenbach's tuba!
I heard back from the seller, who works for the Canadian Brass I guess. He was simply going to get a letter signed by Chuck, not an actual certificate. So I'm guessing since the title of the auction says the tuba was "owned by the Canadian Brass" that it's just one they had around, not really Chuck's tuba used in performances. Just my hypothesis.

Seems to me for someone who cares about this kind of thing, a letter from Chuck would be better.

Maybe the horn still has actual condensation in it from Chuck's breath.
