Baadsvik

Post by eupher61 »

It was great to hear, see, and meet Oystein this afternoon. A wonderful masterclass followed by an amazing recital. Encores of Czardas and Fnugg were expected, and did not disappoint!

And, the chance to FINALY meet Roger Lewis is greatly appreciated too, and to play some of the Miraphone horns I've missed the past few years. I never thought I'd be interested in a
piston F, but the Petruchka sort of knocked on my brain a bit.

Looking forward to Tuesday evening in Anderson, SC. Work is going to keep me from getting to the afternoon bit, but the recital is doable.

Definitely one of the best masterclasses that I've been to, and the Recital he gave was amazing!

I got the chance to hear him at Miami University last week, and it was unbelievable. I also got to speak with him for a few minutes and catch up. I remember playing for him in a masterclass a few years ago at the University of Arkansas. I was working on the Ewazen Concerto for Tuba, and I got so nervous that I took off. It was pretty embarrassing. Nevertheless, he is an outstanding musician and a true representation of our instrument. If you've never heard Oystein live, you are definitely missing out!

If anyone happened to snap some pics, can you send them to me?

I am working on a Facebook Album of the 2012 tour:

Talleyrand, I would love to post any if you happen to take any tomorrow.

Oystein checks in here every now and then, but I will be sure to pass along the kind comments. I am glad everyone enjoyed their stops!

If anyone is looking for a future tour stop, we are already booking for October 2013.

Now back work...

"Impressive" doesn't seem to fit the bill. "Stunning" perhaps? "Beautiful"? "Fun"? They all work for me. I came with a couple of students and I think it has made a major "impression" on their careers. We work so hard on developing an "orchestral" sound that when we hear someone play that intelligently (not that us orchestra players aren't intelligent ;) ), sensitively, and lyrically as a soloist it sort of brings one back to another great reason for playing - and of course Oystein gives us all another great reason for PRACTICING!!!!!!!

It was fabulous. And while I'm at it, major kudos should go to Andy Rummel for pulling it all off (OK, Oystein helped out a little...)
sorry, I don't do signatures.
