Minimum wage is $7.25 per hour. If you work only 10 hours per week, you'll have $3,770 after 1 year. Work more, make more (or get to your goal sooner).

On the more serious side of things...
First - don't be afraid to let some trusted adults (people your parents and grandparents ages and those at church) know you are trying to raise some $$ for a real instrument - word will get out you need work and calls will come - you may be cleaning out granny's basement but cash is cash.
There's the usual teenager jobs - Rake leaves for neighbors, Dog sitting/washing, house sitting over the holidays, offer to help decorate houses for the Christmas and the holidays
'out of the box' yet still moral - check out Gigwalk, iPoll, Field Agent and EasyShift apps on your favorite idevice - they pay a little to check out marketing displays at stores, do reviews, etc.
Don't be afraid to make up pamphlets and stuff mail boxes in your neighborhood and don't turn down honest, moral, hard labor.
For my first horn I threw 110 newspapers a day for a while, cleaned out a rental house or two for a family friend, mowed some grass and took care of a produce department on weekends... learned a lot in the process.
Still have both my kidneys.

Where in the country are you? Some areas are better than others for Gigwalk stuff.
Online surveys. JD Power Panel, Surveyhead, and Opinion Outpost are my favorites. Slow, but steady.
For all this stuff, you need a PayPal account.
Why can't you work? Not old enough? That's really the only excuse...You can find time if the money is important enough to you.

I think I might end up as a grumpy old man when I get old...

If you choose to play the lottery, don't tell anyone on here or they'll really start to give you a hard time.
Also, as far as trolls go, I like this one. It's on the nose, but SO on the nose as to be rendered plausible. More, please!
