Their bass player doubles on Bariton = front action euph. They perform live on gig outside of TV shows. On their many hit recordings they provided none of the instrumental playing, only the vocal soloist is original.
The question is whether this approach isn’t inherited in this genre. The German folk music shows transmitted on TV from unbelievably large halls filled with a huge audience seated at tables never use live music, everything is prerecorded.

I better liked the older shows where the late Ernst Mosch talked to his band while conducting: Meine Herren, soll dies ein Forte sein? (Gentlemen, you mean this to be forte?)

It won't be long, in my opinion, before the studio musicians are not able to do it because they will be put out of work by the computers. I really fear that within my lifetime live music will be passe.
I am fortunate to have a great job that feeds my family well, but music feeds my soul.

We're just a group of amateurs but at least we're REAL!

I think the biggest problem in this area is that musicians are not taken seriously. There are very few true professionals here in the Tri-State but many small groups that are willing to play for less than professional wages.

Dan, that seems like a good traditional model to me, and frankly, for a German band it makes a lot of sense for the townspeople to do the playing instead of hiring some ringers to fill in.
