But Day-Lewis stayed all four days, not taking part directly in what was happening but listening and drinking everything in.
I wonder if any of the musicians had milkshakes?
Seriously, DDL is one of my favorite actors of all time. He does not grind out a lot of movies, but what he does is positively mesmerizing.
My wife and I have never seen a movie together in the theater, even when we were dating, largely for fiscal reasons. However, she has expressed interest in seeing this one and I concur. I was not even aware of the CSO connection, that makes it even more enticing. The last movie I saw with a CSO soundtrack was Fantasia 2000. I have the feeling this will be a little bit different...

Daniel Day Lewis is one of those people that when I see a movie with him (or hear his name), I have to stop and think, "wait, who is that?" Then I Google him, and sort of remember him. Also interesting that they picked a British/Irish actor to play Lincoln.

Was reading an article in Time at the Doctors yesterday. Speilberg was hesitant until he caught DDL's profile against a window and was amazed how closely he resembled the profile cut outs he had seen as akid. By all accounts, DDL was PERFECT in the role. I am breaking my hard-and-fast rule of NEVER going to the theaters, and will see the movie tomorrow after dinner. As a nascent Civil War buff, I am intriqued, as a musician, I am compelled.

He definitely has the look down! I'll try to go see it this weekend.

An aside -- this also reminds me of the HBO series The Wire... several of the actors are British, but playing cops/drug dealers in Baltimore. Being from Baltimore, I always thought their Baltimore accents were okay, but not great...until I heard them speak in their real voices and learned they are British. It completely surprised me!
