These are Asian instruments that have been shipped here and had a satin finish applied. Here's an Accord tuba on ebay right now:

It says in the description:
"The Accord brand has been used by E.K. Blessing in the
past to designate an economical alternative product. We
have not yet had an opportunity to start making our own
tubas, euphoniums, and baritones in Elkhart, Indiana, but we
frequently receive requests for these instruments.
Recently we were able to buy some quality instruments
from Asia which we inspected, ­finished, and
branded as Accord products."
I have no experience with them and I have no idea how they play. You could get a real winner, or you could get shiny crap, I don't know which.

I think that these instruments represent the least-expensive way to finish an instrument. The sandblasted finish requires no buffing, saving labor and time, and lacquering is easier and cheaper than plating. The tuba looks like a copy of the Yamaha YBB-105.

I think I've seen that same horn in a bright lacquered brass finish branded 'Eastman'. If so.... it is so close to a Yamaha that it looks like the parts will interchange.... (but they won't). My local middle school bought four of them and aside from the stainless steel pistons being a little 'sticky' until they are worn in a bit... they seem OK.

I didn't endorse them or say they were good. I merely implied that they are 'OK'.
