Lusophone ?

I have been noticing a lot of international web stuff that seems to miss-translate "Lusophone" as "Sousaphone" but there may be some other "Tuba" connection (probably not the musical instrument usage, but I can't be sure.) Anybody conversant in Portuguese or maybe Tagalog (or maybe some several other languages) to help in this modern tuba mystery?

Just asked Sérgio Carolino, who is Portuguese, and he's never heard of a Lusophone.

In order to clear up any confusion, Harvey Hartman and I made Sergio Carolino's "Lusaphone" in the end of February 2010. This thread dates from early Feb 2010 before Harv and I finished the horn.

Sergio sent me a picture of Oren's horn saying he wanted something similar. Sergio's is in CC with 4 pistons + 1 rotary, Oren's is in Eb.

When Harv and I finished the horn we called it the Sax-o-tuba. When the horn arrived in Sergio's hands he wanted to call it "Lusaphone". One of Sergio's students, upon hearing the name Lusaphone, then called the horn "Lucifer"!
