Orchestral tone poem. Coming up in my lit. MP3 sounds like a great brass chart. Horns, esp. of course, but all of us, really ... Nice!
1) One of the 'Sleeper' tunes for tuba? I haven't run across it til now, but maybe it is done more than I know
2) Any of the TNFJ have a part scan thay could share? (didn't spot anything on IMSLP)
Thanks. Suddenly looking forward to an upcoming concert!

If you can get the part ahead of time do it. Very physical playing and you'll have to be able to pick off e and f# above the the staff leading into the main thematic material. Sleeper for sure.

Here is a site with the complete score FOR FREE.

This piece is not easy. Make sure you own a very high F#. Peruse the score, practice, and find a good recording. This is one of the harder things I have ever had to play. Good Luck.

Agree with all of the above. Get the part! It's a fun F tuba piece for sure and should be programmed more often. This piece along with Symphonies Fantastique were programmed together on my first trial week with my orchestra...with a French conductor no less. I'll never forget him asking me if I had a euphonium handy for the Dies Irae.
Cheers

Re: Franck 'Accursed Huntsman'
Though I am not a tuba player, I wanted to chime in to express my enthusiasm for this piece. I recently joined a community orchestra and it was my reintroduction to orchestral playing after almost twenty years since college.
I got to play second trumpet, which was quite fun and just enough of a challenge.
If I may ask a trumpet-nerd question of our brass brethren on this site, how often have you seen this piece played with two trumpets and two cornets, as Franck scored it? We used four trumpets but I like the idea of two different timbres.
