Yamaha case repair

Post by kalfalfa »

Hi,

I have a YBB-641, and the case has started cracking on the bell - where it sits on the ground when you open it. The case is the same as this one: viewtopic.php?t=44131&p=381509" target="_blank" target="_blank

I'm worried about this cracking because it gets a bit worse every time I take the tuba out of the case.

I'm looking for repair advice. I was thinking about fiberglass on the inside of the crack - but I don't know if this will work. Is this case ABS? Will fiberglass work? Any general advise? Any specific products you can recommend? I have some bondo-hair but I'm not sure if this will work.

I don't really have experience with fiberglass, or this type of repair, so I'm mostly worried about making the problem worse.

Epoxy in the crack and then gorilla tape on both sides.
