So in December a friend of mine had went in to dinner with friends and left his horn in his car as he ate. When he came out it was to the surprise that his car had been stolen with his horn in the trunk

. After looking through craigslist and other places he eventually claimed it on his insurance and got his cash for the claim.
Fast forward to Jan 26th.
I was attending the CMEA music educators conference when I walked by a vendor that sold used music equipment. I, being a nerd, noticed that in the corner of his exhibit has a cleaned Meinl 2145 for sale. I asked about the horn and we talked about price. I noticed when I took it back to a sound room to play it that it had some of the custom touches done that my frinds horn had

. I called him up and he came to the convention to verify that it was if fack his 2145. After the police seized the horn he might have the opportunity to purchase it back from his insurance for a discounted price.
Guess it pays to be a tuba nerd somedays
