Play tests??

Post by Jerryleejr »

Trying to find somewhere that has a decent selection and within a day trip from Nashville. I'm familiar with Baltimore, wwbw, Dillion's and the tuba dome. All a bit to far from me.

Get to DC this weekend and you will have most, if not all, vendors and horns represented, including a pretty healthy inventory of used horns looking for good homes. It's worth the time and money to compare what's available. Yes, it's in the elephant room but the opportunity should help you narrow your choices. And when you've blown your face on horn tryouts, go to a master class or performance. And outside of your transportation, lodging and food, it's FREE!

Would love to but I will be south in Atlanta taking my daughter to her first daddy/daughter dance :)

And joe you have some very nice horns I plan on coming down when you get back from the conference. As for my budget it puts me on the cusp of some very good used tubas or a new king 2341. Still haven't decided but have plenty of time I'm in no rush to jump into a regret.

Just to clarify things a bit, WWBW no longer has a retail store in South Bend, IN it was closed a while back and you can only order horns on line or by phone now. You can't go there and play test them.

Also, with the sale of B&S to Buffet, there are no longer any horns at what used to be the Tubadome either. They were all shipped to Florida.

Sorry.

Good to know, maybe when I'm in WV I can try Dillion's or Baltimore brass.
