Philadelphia Orch. - great performance last night

We transferred from Denton, TX to northeast PA five years ago, and we just now managed to get away to Philly for a weekend to hear the orchestra. Yesterday was my birthday, so my wife got us tickets in the choir seats right behind the low brass.

I couldn't see the tubas from my seat but I could certainly hear them very well. It was a good night for tuba listening with Rite of Spring (I don't know who the second tubist was) and the Stokowski transcription of Bach's Passacaglia and Fugue in C Minor (Ms. Jantsch's horn for this appeared as big as my Holton 345 but I couldn't be sure). Since we were behind the orchestra we weren't distracted by the dancers!

Those are great seats! I was worried the first time I sat in them that all the sound would be directed away leaving just a rumble.Not the case at all! We sit on the front row, looking down on Carol's end of the row. I am surprised that this section was sold for the Stravinsky: they are supposed to have super-titles and some sort of projection behind the orchestra?
The second tuba may well have been Jay Krush, tuba teacher at Temple U, as he is often called.This is a wonderful orchestra and the hall is first-class.
Jay Krush, btw, conducts TubaChristmas under the atrium in the lobby between the 2 halls--talk about a place to play!

WRTI is now broadcasting the Philadelphia Orchestras on a delayed basis. Hopefully, this one will come around soon. I'll keep an eye out for it.

Yes, it's confusing. Both with the same unusual spelling, both former Texas residents (no such thing as a former Texan), both Holton 345 owners--yes, confusing indeed.

Gaa. Once again I have a trip to a city with a great orchestra, evenings entirely optional for work, and the calendar looks like this:
