Got to meet him a few times when I was a young kid and he seemed so approachable - salt of the earth. Later on as an adult he came and did a couple of concerts with us. Great musician and a really nice guy. Hearing him and Jacobs together was always a treat.

I am saddened to hear this news. Since 1947, my main instrument has been trumpet, and Mr. Herseth always has been at the top of my hero list.
