About the only thing that will cause a split/rupture like that is ice from the horn sitting with water in it over a winter.
The bell looks sort of like it doesn't belong with that horn.
You might check the diameter of the bell tenon. If it's a BIG Holton, it will be the same as a Conn 2XJ/K... 7 1/4".
