A kiss from someone with a moustache is one of those things I think some people are going to like a lot more than others. Don't know, but I'm not in any hurry to find out.

Mahler knew what an orchestra without a tuba was like. That's why he added tuba to Beethoven 9 and other scores that were sorely lacking a tuba part (albeit sometimes a very modest tuba part added).

Mozart. Haydn. Beethoven. Schubert. All the rest of the classical composers before 1840. The point being....?

Instead of talking to your plants, if you yelled at them would they still grow, but only to be troubled and insecure?

Fascinating. Things definitely take a life of their own here on TubeNet!
Just thought I'd share something I found quite funny and very slightly enlightening (the source is a French guy who works in Germany, to add a cultural dimension).

What about Mahler's own Symphony, No. 4?Steve Marcus wrote:Mahler knew what an orchestra without a tuba was like. That's why he added tuba to Beethoven 9 and other scores that were sorely lacking a tuba part (albeit sometimes a very modest tuba part added).

An orchestra without a tuba is like...an orchestra that doesn't have a tuba.
This seems very obvious to me. I'm just sayin'. Obviously, I prefer an orchestra WITH a tuba.

Excellent analogy Marty. The need is both cases depends on what the immediate program calls for.
