Just wanted to drop a public "Thanks!" to Dan for letting me drop by on Saturday to talk (and play) some tuba. He was kind enough to let me play on his horns for about an hour after showing me around his shop. I was stupid and didn't think to take any pictures until I was long gone, but to my recollection I played on the following horns (all BBb's)
Marzan 1291? Piston
Marzan Slant Rotor
Marzan "Solo"
King "Pit model"
Holton short action model
King 1241
Conn "Jumbo" Sousaphone
Dan's homemade Cimbasso
I think I got them all listed (correct me if I'm wrong Dan). My favorite was the piston Marzan. That thing just had a very big, dark sound.
So thanks again to Dan for letting me stop by! If you're ever in Newburg (or your wife is nice enough to let you make a detour that adds five hours to your trip like mine did!) then give him a shout and stop on by!
Thanks Dan (TubaTinker)!

Thanks for your kind words, Jordan. I am always pleased when I can share my tubas with folks who appreciate them!
For the record... the Marzan piston was made by Bohm & Meinl and has no model number that I know of.
The 1291 is the King 'monster' that has the paddles that look like cake spatulas.

Thanks for correcting me Dan! I remembered there being another 1291 besides the Miraphone.
