Broken Ball End Stud, need part/s
I have a B&S Bbb 4/4 Tuba and as I was trying to take the rotary valves apart, I snapped the ball end stud! I have asked around locally (live in the San Diego area) and I already called the place that I bought it from, Baltimore Brass, and they don't have the part. Attached is a picture of the part I am looking for. For those who don't know, this piece goes on the top of the valve that allows the arm to move. If you have one of these lying around, please contact me further. My email is alynch201@gmail.com" target="_blank " target="_blank

Think(?) I have a few of these lying around. Double check when I get the chance.

Just checked, and I do have a few from an old B&S CC and F. They aren't hexigonal like yours though, just squares, so not sure if they'll work...

Did you check the measurements like the thread, the neck length of the ball, and the ball size? If those are the same then it should work!

Assuming that is a centimeter scale next to the part... it appears that the thread is 2 x .5mm... the overall length is about 1.1cm... and the ball is about 3mm diameter. I have a couple of these. I see others have already responded. If you 'strike out' let me know and I'll send you one.

Broken ball studs can be brazed back together and will last forever afterwords. Most repair techs that have experience repairing broken clarinet keys can handle fixing your stud.

I will see if I can find someone that can brazen the part back together for me. If not, then I might need you to send me the part.

Finally got a chance to measure it. The thread size, length, and ball diameter look to be the same, but the ones I have are a bit longer in threaded area. What model horn do you have? Again, these ones are from GDR B&S horns.

Al.... did you resolve the issue of the broken ball stud? Did I send you some parts to try?ALynch201 wrote:I have a B&S Bbb 4/4 Tuba and as I was trying to take the rotary valves apart, I snapped the ball end stud!
