My wife and I made a detour to the New Glarus brewery over the holidays. Great beer..
I'm not sure why it is so good, and its not amazingly unique, just very well executed. Too bad you can't get it outside of the Wisconsin area!

That's the stuff. Saw it today at the same place I got the beer. As I have Gin already, and am a dyed-in-the-wool Tangueray (LOVE the Rampour!!! with a splash of bitters and tonic) guy, I think I'll pass until I see it at a party. Cheers!!!

Many single malt scotches are...well...humorous, as the word, "scotch" simply means "a whiskey that was made in Scotland".
Indeed it must be made in Scotland, and
Produced at a distillery in Scotland from water and malted barley (to which only whole grains of other cereals may be added) all of which have been:
Processed at that distillery into a mash
Converted at that distillery to a fermentable substrate only by endogenous enzyme systems
Fermented at that distillery only by adding yeast
Distilled at an alcoholic strength by volume of less than 94.8% (190 US proof)
Wholly matured in an excise warehouse in Scotland in oak casks of a capacity not exceeding 700 litres (185 US gal; 154 imp gal) for at least three years
Retaining the colour, aroma, and taste of the raw materials used in, and the method of, its production and maturation
Containing no added substances, other than water and plain (E150A) caramel colouring
Comprising a minimum alcoholic strength by volume of 40% (80 US proof)
I gather that the "whole grains of other cereals" clause doesn't apply to "malt" whisky, which must be made from malted barley only. My Scotch research project is still before me (and more remote than ever now that the multinational big box groceries bought out our communistic state liquor stores with a voter initiative, resulting in much more expensive booze), but I understand that while they are indeed characteristic, single malt Scotches may vary quite a bit from one region or distillery to another, so maybe the wine varietals would be vaguely analogous to regions like Islay ... so, as you could make white wine with Riesling grapes with varying results, so could the Bowmore in my cabinet be quite different from (more expensive) Laphroaig but still have something in common with it, compared to Glenfiddich from the Speyside subregion. But those regional characters aren't obligatory. Anyway, lots to know there, but it seems that those who become sufficiently acquainted tend to find something to like in the stuff.
Yes, I realise 11AM is maybe a bit early for a VB but, I've been pushing the mower for a couple hours.
I'm curious as to how you got the picture of my landlord's mate. Ir was a visit by him that started the dispute with the land lord. I should have kept quiet and let the snake bite him then given said asp a carton of beer as payment for a job well done!!!
My usual VB and just got thinking...... Feb 10 here, first day of the Chinese New Year.... Year of the Snake!
First live, awake creature I saw this morning at 5:30 was a 4ft long blue belly black SNAKE 1ft away from my bare
feet. Like the one in the pics a few posts back. It will NOT be sharing a VB with me as it has been despatched to snake heaven.
Wonder what sort of "omen" the Chinese would call that.....
