Sellmansberger Symphony "Blokepiece"

In my quest to find the "perfect" mouthpiece (or at least the one that fits me the best) I have tried
dozens of different mouthpieces & haven't been real impressed.............until now! Very few of the
mouthpieces that I have tried, have had a huge noticeable difference between them in the way they
sounded. They all allowed me to play my horn reasonably well (as they are supposed to) some better
in low range response & some a little better in the higher range. But none of the mouthpieces I have
tried, have had such an impact on my playing as Joe's "Blokepiece" Symphony model. It has completely
opened up the low range for me and pedal tones just flow out almost effortlessly, as well as the mid &
upper range seems to play so much more openly with so little effort. In the three octaves that I can
play in, this mouthpiece provides a very full sound with more core & focus than I've experienced with
any other mouthpiece. Thanks Joe!

I've been using the Blokepiece for a little while now, and I like it a lot.

Question -- after a while, will "crud" start to grow/collect in the screw rim? I'm not really planning to switch rims or change things out any time soon. Do I still need to take it apart once in a while to clean it out, or is the tolerance close enough to make it not a concern? I clean it out anyway, but I'm curious how much of a necessity that is. (Frankly, I would be just as happy with a 1-piece version of this mouthpiece, though this is the opposite direction they seem to be going in).

Bort, I was thinking the same thing, but now all I have to do is get the American shank (stem) for my other
horn & I'm all set. But I wouldn't mind just having a mouthpiece for each horn
I understand your concern about keeping the threads clean, but I wouldn't think being stainless & all, that
it would really matter much. Just STOP slobberin all over the darn thing & it'll be fine

I don't know if it's growing or collecting, but black stuff does wind up in the threads. Not a big deal to clean out with a cloth, though.

I agree, the interchangeable pieces and shanks are a good idea, and I can totally see it being useful for other people. Just not me. And fine, I'll clean my mouthpiece once in a while, yeesh.
