Hello all,
I have the favorable occasion to buy a Jin Bao 450L C-Tuba.
But: What are the known failings of the 450L?
Best regards
Ulli

Without discussing the sound, it is very much out of tune with it-selves.
3rd valve circuit for instance is quite a bit(!) too long
Haven't measured it, but judging by the sound it needs 2"+ off (~7cm)

If I understand aright, I have to pull the main tuning bow about 7 cm, and shorten the 3. circuit a little bit to bring the 450 L right in tune?
That should be possible...
And what about the sound?

Ulli,
Here's a little help finding what's already been written/recorded on the JB 450L.
There is a review from both Jonathan/Wessex and Tom/Mack here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=44077&start=61
It seems that you'll need to have some modifications (slide cuts) made to achieve proper tuning if you purchase one of these horns.

No....Language...It's all in the 3rd. The rest is pretty much all right I thinkUlli wrote:If I understand aright, I have to pull the main tuning bow about 7 cm, and shorten the 3. circuit a little bit to bring the 450 L right in tune?

Neptune chopped ~5cm on 3rd, and that was not enough.
He has a chromatic scale on Utube

You can hear the 3rd is still (probably if not bugle is messing up) flat
