You can still hear it's good sound.

Thanks man. And I know, If I let my self do so I could easily get sucked into the usual teenage-young adult tuba blast sound. I was thinking if if would be ok to play stuff with a little bit of edge if applicable.TubaMusikMann wrote:I would work on producing a "good tone" for EVERYTHING! and when you need to crank up the dynamics
to fff you should still be able to do that with a good tone, NOT overblowing & making it sound all
blatty & distorted. Let the other idiots play that sh*t! Tuboss2 it's not too late to save yourself. If you learn
how to play with a good sounding tone & a proper attack, that's something that you can use the rest of your
life. After you get out of school, there may be community concert bands & other smaller ensembles to play
in & they are ALWAYS looking for tuba players. But trust me, there is NO PLACE for that blatty, overblown
crap in these types of groups & they will NOT allow it. Outside of these "sousaphone wars" there is no place
in the music would for that crap, so I would work on developing a good tone that can serve you well for years
to come. As a few others have suggested, start working on some etudes & it can help you develop a nice tuba
sound. Tubas can sound beautiful when the are played correctly.

Actually yes, there are times when the music calls for this, but you wouldn't want to play a piece all the wayTuboss2 wrote:I was thinking if if would be ok to play stuff with a little bit of edge if applicable.

You "don't" what? Briangoodgigs wrote:Really ? Ya think so ? (I don't)

Why don't you try to master soft playing? It just isn't always about playing loudTuboss2 wrote:I'm gonna master loud playing. Even though everyone in my HS band says I'm the loudest player they've ever heard. Haha.

After the first lesson I knew that I had made the right decision there is no substitute for one on one instruction.

The financial aid for lessons is 9 dollars/month. Half off the actual amount which 18/month.
My parents are pretty tight money wise...not poor but I don't think they have money to throw around for lessons for me.
