good repairs in omaha

Hello my fellow tubists. I plan on moving to Omaha Nebraska soon. I have a 1926 conn 2j eb that i want rebuilt and a fourth valve added. Any really good repair shops near there?

Lee Stofer isn't "close" but you could blast your way to him on I-80 if you so choose. I know you've seen Lee's posts on here and without a doubt he is world-class. However, Omaha ain't no tiny village; must be some top notch folks around TNFJ has contacts everywhere.

Craig Fuller, principal tuba for the Omaha symphony uses a local tech named Nate Griffith. I can get you his email if you need. At one point I was going to have a fifth valve added to a horn and that was who Mr. Fuller recommended.

Nate is a tuba player also. He does really good work, and a nice guy.

Nate Griffith gave serious consideration to marketing his own tuba model about 10 years ago. He abandoned the project; I do not remember why.

This is a bit off topic, but Nate is the cordial, tireless organizer of the Omaha Tuba Christmas and Craig is usually the conductor. If you get a chance to come and play, it is well worth the effort. The past several years it has been held at the Joslyn Art Museum either in the Concert Hall or the atrium. BTW, it has always been indoors, no matter where in Omaha it has been held. Nebraska in December can be brutally cold and utterly inhospitable to outdoor brass playing. (Yet today's high was 62°F.)
