Indeed, an amazing group of musicians! Jeff Curnow joined the EBQ in September of 1987, and Martin Hackleman played with the group until Eric Ruske joined in 1989.

I never had the pleasure of hearing Ray Cutler with the group. My first exposure to EBQ was the recording they did in the 70's of the Ewald Brass Quintets with Norman Bolter on trombone. That is still my favorite recording of those works and that group was maybe the most musically sensitive brass quintet I ever heard.

Best of all time? Wow, no clue. But I do like just about everything by the New York Brass Quintet with Toby Hanks.

Hard to pick just one, but for me, the original New York Brass Quintet with Mr. Phillips on tuba. I only wish they had recorded more albums. Also love the St. Louis Brass (Perantoni), Chicago Symphony Brass (Jacobs), Empire Brass (Pilafian), and of course Canadian Brass (Dallenbach).
