Congrats on the pipe. Now how about telling us about this tuba? If you think it's "very special" I guarantee the rest of us are curious!bloke wrote: a very special tuba (one I am restoring for my own use).

Re: brag (sorry...can't resist)
Knowing that you pros goof stuff up on occasion makes me feel even better about the fact that I got a useable leadpipe on my first try (ever!). I posted these in my thread about this little horn, but here they are again:

Did you use any forms or anything to get the shape bloke or was it all simply by hand? I used a block of wood with the corner rounded off to help get the 90° bend (it didn't quite come out to 90, but it works!).

Bloke,
Was your leadpipe pitch filled, or did you use a "Cerebend" product?

Looks great, bloke!bloke wrote:Finally, the bore out-of-roundness in the sharp curve is only c. .010" (which I can eliminate, if I care to) and the out-of-roundless where the mouthpipe curves around the bell is nearly negligible.
I usually overbend each curve a tiny bit so that when I use draw rings to fix the ovality I made by bending the pipe, the curve bends back just right. (but bloke already knows all this stuff!)

I've always found the fabricating part easy. Wish I could get some tutoring in repairing!

I just love that smell of melting pitch out of the pipe... Be sure to warn neighbors, roommates, spouses that the smell and the smoke is completely normalbloke wrote:These had pitch pre-filled, so I couldn't fill them with cerrebend.
I have better luck with cerrebend, so I'm particularly happy to have no buckles.
Nice pipe, Bloke!
