I have been alerted that some of the Yamaha Silent Brass systems have been redesigned. Has the tuba model also been updated? It appears unchanged from the previous design - or it has been renamed as a "pickup mute".

Hopefully they fixed the engineering on those sucky latches that like to break so easily.

Re: Yamaha Tuba Silent Brass
Hi Winston,
I already put in my order for one with Steve Butterworth at Yamaha Canada... Or rather put my dibs on the first one to arrive. The new tuba one is scheduled to be released next year.
I had my hands on the new trumpet silent brass and I'm very pleased with the flush-with-bell design.
(P.S.: Any word on that tuba you were looking at?)

Re: Yamaha Tuba Silent Brass
This looks good. I was in Japan when the original Silent Brass debuted and bought the trumpet system - I've got the trombone system as well. The trumpet mute worked well but it had a tendency to fall out a bit too easily, so I'm looking forward to trying the new one - I like that bell-flush look also. I always held off on the tuba and euphonium mutes. But I'm looking forward to trying this one. Hopefully people will post reviews as they begin to try it.
