Tuba-centric, sweet review of "Eli Newberger's All-Stars"

Post by enewberger »

Dear Friends,

Here, in addition to the kind words, you can see and hear in HD my rebuilt Holton Del Negro tuba (made for Holton by York with the same alloy as the Chicago Symphony/Jacobs's, according to Tom Treece), on "Georgia on My Mind" and "Tiger Rag."

I'm playing with these marvelous jazzmen: Bob Winter, the Boston Pops pianist, Randy Reinhart, cornet, Jimmy Mazzy, banjo, Ted Casher, clarinet, Herb Gardner, trombone, Jeff Guthery, drums, along with Rebecca Sullivan, a fabulous young vocalist in the graduate contemporary improvisation program at New England Conservatory.

We'll be back at the Sherborn Inn in Sherborn, MA, on Tuesday, February 4, from 7:00 to 9:30 (admission $10.00).

Then, on Wednesday, February 5, a quintet from the band (Bob Winter, Jeff Guthery, Ted Casher, Rebecca Sullivan, and me) will play at The Fireplace Restaurant in Brookline, MA, from 9:30 to midnight (no cover, no minimum).

Warm wishes to all,

Eli
