St. Pete 204n Eb question

Post by macwinty »

I can't seem to find any information on this particular model of St. Pete... It's an older horn, model 204n (stenciled on bell), has 5 rotary valves, but no apparent serial number. It's in fair condition; few minor dents, two of the valves seem OK, the rest have varying degrees of noise or stickiness. I'm interested in buying it from a friend, but looking for info and rough idea of value.

If anyone can help with information, a reply would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Winston

It's really hard to put a value on this one.
Here's the current St Pete 5v Eb for reference - http://www.tubaexchange.com/tubas/st-petersburg-206

I have a friend with a model 201 BBb. When they made some improvements to the model line, they changed the number from 201 to 202 to reflect the changes.

I would suspect that the same applies to the model 204. Now sold as the model 206 since they've made improvements.
You might try to contact Vince Simonetti for more info about this model tuba. Vince puts his contact info on his webpage: http://simonettitubacollection.com/inst ... -3-rotary/

He used to own/operate Tuba Exchange and might be able to tell you more about this instrument. Tuba Exchange is the only sales source here in north america for these instruments. The current people at Tuba Exchange (other than the repair guy Mike) are not connected to the previous staff so I don't know if they will be able to answer any particular questions. They might have the sales records from before the business changed hands to be able to tell when your instrument was sold.
