Chinese tubas getting prettier

Schiller wants 3 grand for it. Also the Wessex tubas and euphoniums are very impressive. I know they all come from Jinbao factory but the effort of making the manufacturer to listen to the dealer's needs is very impressive. Kudos to all of you in this business. You are the ones creating quality products for us.

I think silver accents on a gold brass tuba looks MUCH nicer than gold-plated accents on a silver tuba. Well, at least in most executions of it.

Yeah, I can see what you mean. I am not unhappy with my horn. It has served me well getting me back into music and didn't break the bank. However for reasons I can't quite explain I keep looking at prettier horns. Currently, my lust is directed at rose brass...

Or as one of my bandmates who plays euphonium is want to opine, since tubas are expensive, and take a lot of abuse in institutional settings: a tuba is the only instrument I know that can look like crap and beat to hell and still sound good, and therefore look good, whatever its condition.

What brand is the tuba in your original post? Is this one of the Laabs tubas? .... or is it a Cerveny?

I don't take them seriously! Never have. I had one discussion with them a few years back about a problem with one of their horns. Once was enough.

I agree that for a Chinese made tuba, that is a very attractive look,
but I'd be more concerned with how it plays
