The motif (if you want to call it that) bears a strong resemblance to the chorus from the "Patty Duke Show" theme. I had that impression every time I played it. I would guess it evokes other tunes for other people, and I can't imagine that Andre Previn was "inspired" by such a banal piece. It's just a cool-sounding ditty that probably came to him some other way (walk in the country, substance abuse, etc.) Nothing new under the sun, after all, especially in music. Ask John Williams.
